What is the Anti-Theft System and how does it work? What is this system? What is the Anti-Theft System? How does it work? What kind of problems does it cause
The Anti-Theft System was created to stop vehicle theft. This is something that most systems do quite well at. They can also cause a lot of problems when they do act. If your vehicle is inactive, it may stop working or cause the vehicle to stall. You may hear the alarm when your vehicle is active.
Fabricated assemblies that were found in an original vehicle are usually more successful than those purchased and installed in your vehicle. How the system is mounted to your vehicle is the most important factor in this success. Most fabrication systems are integrated into the Electronic Control Unit and Body Control Module (BCM/ECU). If you are not using the keyless mode or hands-free mode, most fabricated systems will turn the lights on and sound the warning horn. The system prevents an engine from starting even if it isn’t plugged in. It can also include features like remote control, activation, and tracking of the vehicle with GPS. Systems that are post-installed can also perform the same task.
Systems that were installed late can often have problems with installation. As long as the system doesn’t malfunction, it will not be a problem if the installer is skilled in the subject. You will have problems if you cut, tape, or splice cables during assembly. A wrongly placed connection can lead to system malfunctions, including burnt or damaged systems. The ECU could generate fault codes if your engine misfires. A bad installation can cause your engine to stop working for a few seconds and then restart.
The poor quality of electronic materials used in Anti-Theft Systems on the market is another problem. Many electronic devices are now made in China. Most of these devices use low-quality components and dead electronics. The system can start to malfunction and cause problems within a year. This is why it is important to ensure that you only buy products from reputable importers and that your warranty period lasts for a long time.
Diagnostics “Anti-Theft System”.
You may have anti-theft issues if your anti-theft light flashes when you try to start your car. Your key or keyless entry signal may not be recognized by the system. There may also be an issue with the wiring, anti-theft module or keyless entry system.
Your vehicle may have a smart-key system. If so, it is possible that the key’s battery has gone bad. There may be a fault in the chip of the key that prevents the Anti-Theft System (ATS) from recognising it. You will need to bring your vehicle to the center to identify the problem.
Disable the system
A fabricated part cannot be dismantled. These systems are meant to prevent theft of your vehicle. It would be impossible to disable the system easily and thieves would play with it. It should be noted, however, that the system can always be cancelled.
Only authorized shops with fabricated diagnostic tools can access the system to troubleshoot and repair. If you have this problem, it is important to take your vehicle in to an authorized service center.
It can be dismantled if it is an older system. You can easily disconnect the cable if you have an assembly manual.
Original (Ex-Factory Anti-Theft Systems
Automobile manufacturers use a variety of anti-theft devices. General Motors, for example, uses the “Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) system. This alarms if doors are opened without keys. The system does not stop a car thief driving your vehicle.
To prevent theft, systems that disable the ignition, fuel and starter motors are used. As examples, General Motors’ “Vehicle Theft Deterrent” (VTD), Ford’s Passlock System (PATS), and Chrysler’s “Sentry Key Immobilizer System” (SKIS), can all be cited.
An ignition key with an encoded transponder chips is used by most people. Transponder receivers in the ignition read the key. The body control module (BCM) receives the signal from the transponder receiver in the ignition. If the ECU gets a negative signal, or no signal, it will not start the ignition, fuel, or starter motor. This will cause the engine to not start.
Flashing security lights are the main sign that you have a problem. If your engine lights continue to flash, it is time to take your vehicle to an authorized service station with a tow truck.
First Things to Do
The key may not be recognized by the “Anti-Theft System”. The key’s chip may be damaged or faulty. The receiver in the ignition switch may be defective or damaged. Interference can sometimes be caused by having two keys (spare key). You should never keep the spare key in your car, especially if you don’t want to risk your safety. This could cause engine stop, signal distortion and loss of signal.
If the Anti-Theft System light flashes and your vehicle is in hands-free mode, it’s possible that the key battery is dead. The receiver might not be receiving any signal. If this happens, you can try your spare key.
Reprogramming
If the key has lost or failed, or the Anti-Theft System Module has been replaced, it must be reprogrammed. Some Mercedes models have the ignition keys mapped to their ECU. If you lose your key, the ECU cannot be reset and the ECU must also be replaced.
