Due to its environmental benefits, we see a lot of demand for alternative fuels in the country. This demand is not easily met.
The most important and first obstacle is the unjustified SCT on natural gas used as an automobile fuel. This excise tax should be abolished first.
Another obstacle is the high costs of installing natural gas stations and long depreciation periods of the station investments due to the SCT. Although there is a lot of potential customers for economical fuel, the economic barriers that prevent stations from being opened to vehicle owners who are not eligible for it have prevented them from using this fuel. The unfair SCT will be abolished and natural gas, which is the most clean and environmentally-friendly fuel of all petroleum derivatives, will be able to enter our daily lives.
MY VEHICLE USES LPG. CAN IT BE CONVERTED TO NATURAL GAS?
Only rail-injectors and key elements of an LPG powered vehicle are allowed to be used. Except for that, the regulator, tank, pipes and pipe will have to be changed. CNG is stored at 250 bar pressure in GAS. This pressure is not suitable to install 30 bar LPG.

Standard 60 lt. The weight of a full LPG tank and full CNG tanks is approximately equal. LPG is stored in liquid form, while CNG is gas. CNG tanks can be filled with 14-15 M3 CNG if they are filled to 200 bar. Storage/Compression ratio: 1/200 In other words, a 60 Liter CNG tank will consume 12M3 CNG at 200 bar. A 100 HP standard vehicle will travel around 180 km with an average consumption rate of about 7 M3 per 100km.
WHAT IS THE COST OF NATURAL GAS CONVERSION?
Injection vehicles cost around 2.300 TL while carbureted vehicles cost around 1.200TL. The CNG tank, regulator, and installation are more costly.

At today’s current prices, a vehicle that runs 1000km per month on LPG will pay for itself in just 16 months. CNG has a higher conversion cost, but it’s cheaper. The amortization period is only 10 months.

CNG stations with a capacity to hold 750m3/hour are priced at around 200.000 Euro.
