What is the P0313 fault number? What’s the reason for Misfire Detected At Low Fuel Level? How can you fix the P0313 fault? What are the causes and symptoms for the P0313 fault code

What is the P0313 fault code? What does it signify?

The P0313 code means that one or more cylinders have an ignition error (misfire), when the fuel level is low. This code is often combined with P0300,P0302,P0302,P0302,P0302,P0302,P0303,P0304,P0305,P0306 and P0306.

The powertrain control module, or PCM, uses engine speed, crankshaft position and camshaft position to determine the fuel required and ignition timing. The PCM can detect engine misfires by analyzing variations in crankshaft and camshaft position, as well RPM. The PCM will display a code if the engine misfire causes severe damage to the catalytic convert(s). If the engine misfire does not cause serious damage to the catalytic converter, the check engine lamp may turn off after it has been on for a while. This is usually when the car is being driven.

When the combustion chamber is not able to burn enough fuel, the P0313 fault code will be set. Low fuel levels can expose the fuel pump and cause the engine to run “poor”. This means that if the tank fuel level falls below the pickup point at a fuel pump, the fuel pump will absorb air. Intermittent failures can occur when this happens. The code setting could also be caused by poor fuel quality or mechanical faults in the fuel system if the fuel system works properly.

What is the P0313 Fault Code?

If this code is not used, it is most likely that the fault is due to low fuel levels.

Below are some reasons to set fault code P0313:

  • Low fuel levels in the fuel tank cause fuel pump failure.
  • – Fuel level gauge, which shows fuel level far more than it really is
  • – Defective fuel pump
  • – Fuel filter blocked
  • – Defective fuel pressure regulator
  • – Spark plugs that are worn, damaged or stained
  • – Spark Plug Wires and coils cracked or damaged
  • – A few faulty ignition coils
  • – Fuel injectors clogged or defective
  • Fuel injector wiring damaged
  • Mechanical engine problems: faulty reluctor rings, excessive carbon buildup on the valves MAF, MAMAP, BARO; lack of compression, vacuum leaks etc.
  • – Defective PCM / ECM / ECU

What are the symptoms of P0313 Fault code?

The following symptoms may be experienced by anyone who has a vehicle coded P0313.

  • – Flashing or continuous engine fault light
  • – Engine running very hard or not at all
  • – Vehicle stumbles or hesitation during acceleration
  • – A misfire on one or more of the cylinders
  • Engine stalling
  • – Increased fuel consumption
  • – Engine losing power
  • – Other related fault codes

How do I fix the P0313 fault code?

There are several repairs that can resolve the P0313 fault code.

  • – Filling up the fuel tank
  • – Replacing ignition coils
  • – Repair of ignition wires
  • – Replacing spark plugs
  • – Cleaning or replacing fuel injectors
  • – Replacing the fuel filter
  • – Check the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line. You may find fuel in your hose if the diaphragm is malfunctioning.
  • – Repair of mechanical faults or vacuum leaks in the fuel system
