What is the P0006 fault code What is the description of the Fuel Shut Off Valve “A” Control Circuit Low malfunction? How do you fix the P0006 fault code What are the causes and symptoms of the P0006 error code?
What is the P0006 Fault Code and what does it mean? What does it signify?
Diagnostic Trouble Code (P0006) is for “Fuel shutoff valve “A” control circuit low. When the powertrain control module, PCM detects a problem in the fuel shutoff valve/circuit, a code P0006 will be triggered.
The fuel shutoff valve controls the fuel supply to high pressure injection pumps. This valve can be found on certain diesel engines and is controlled by the PCM. The PCM uses this valve when the engine is shut down. This prevents the engine’s starting after the ignition is switched off.
The following vehicles are susceptible to code P0006: Various models of Peugeot, Ford, Dodge, Chrysler and Chrysler. This code can also be used to identify P0005 or P0007 fault codes.
What is the P0006 Fault Code and Why Does It Happen?
- – Defective fuel shutoff valve
- – Defective fuel shutoff valve relay
- – A short in the fuel shutoff circuit or ignition switch, as well as the wiring to the PCM.
- – Defective PCM
What are the symptoms for P0006 fault code?
- – Illumination at the check engine lights
- – Low engine performance
- Engine stalling
- – Engine not running
- – Continue to run the engine even after you have turned off the ignition
- – Increased fuel use
How to Fix the P0006 Fault Code
- This code is frequently set incorrectly. To determine if the code will return, it should first be cleared.
- – Check the wiring and connections to your PCM, ignition switches, and fuel shutoff device if the code comes back. Broken or short-circuited cables should be replaced. Any loose connections must also be repaired. They should be replaced if the connectors become corroded.
- – Check the fuel shutoff valve, relay and fuel pump to make sure the signals are working. If you press down on the valve, the piston should pull up. The valve must be replaced if it fails to do so. Check the relay if there is no power to your fuel shutoff valve. The same relay is usually used in several electrical circuits of the motor. Test it by replacing the relay. You have identified the problem if the fuel shutoff valve still works after you replace it.
- – The PCM should not be tested if there is no problem in the fuel shutoff valve.
Note: The fault can be recurred even if the fuel shutoff valve is replaced without any tests or checks. A short circuit in the electric system or damaged wiring could be the cause of the malfunction. Failure to make these repairs could lead to the same malfunction again.
