What is P0095 fault code and what does it mean? What is the description for Intake Air Temperature Sensor 2 Circuit Malfunction (IAT2)? How can I fix the P0095 fault code What are the causes and symptoms of the P0095 error code?

What is the P0095 Fault code? What does it stand for?

A code P0095 is triggered when the powertrain controller module (PCM), detects a voltage from the intake air temp (IAT) sensor 2 circuit that is outside the manufacturer’s parameters.

The IAT sensor (intake air temp) is a thermistor which measures the temperature of air by measuring resistance in the air. It is typically a two-wire sensor that is located in the intake air conduit. It can be mounted on the intake manifold in some cases. One wire is to receive a 5 volt reference from the PCM while the other is for ground.

The resistance changes when the engine air passes through the sensor. The sensor receives a 5 volt signal due to this change in resistance. Cold air has high resistance and high signal voltage, hot air has low resistance but high signal voltage. The PCM monitors any changes in the reference signals and calculates the air’s temperature. If the PCM detects an abnormal voltage at sensor #2, a fault code P0095 will be issued.

P0095 fault codes can be applied to vehicles made by various manufacturers, including Renault, Nissan, Chevrolet and Peugeot.

What causes the P0095 Fault code?

There are several possible triggers for P0095’s fault code.

  • 2 – Defective intake temperature (IAT), sensor
  • – Problems with wiring that cause an open circuit in the sensor system
  • – Connectors and wires that connect to the PCM can be either open or closed circuit
  • Unplugged IAT sensor
  • – Defective PCM

What are the symptoms of the P0095 Fault code?

These symptoms may be present if you own a vehicle that has the P0095 code.

  • – Illumination for check engine light
  • – Increased fuel consumption
  • – Low engine performance
  • – Engine hesitation during acceleration
  • Depending on the temperature outside, the engine can be run in either rich or lean conditions.

How to Fix the P0095 Fault Code

All codes should be cleared first. Next, conduct a road test to determine if they return. If the code comes back, it is important to inspect the wiring harness and the electrical connections that connect to the intake air temperature sensor.

One IAT sensor may be present on several vehicles. IAT1 or IAT1 are used to measure air temperature to the MAF sensor. IAT2 measures the temperature of the air just after the compressor. To avoid misdiagnosis, it is important to check the condition of each component.

  • – Test and replace the #2 sensor for intake air temperature
  • – Repair of damaged cables and connectors to the sensor circuit
  • – Repairing short and open circuits in wire to PCM
  • – Replace the PCM if it fails to pass the testing procedures
