What is the P00B7 faultcode? What is the description of Engine Coolant Low / Performance Failure? How do I fix the P00B7 fault code What are the causes of the ?….P00B7 error code?

What is the P00B7 Fault code? What does it mean

When the powertrain control module (PCM/ECM/ECU) detects insufficient coolant flow, a fault code P00B7 will be logged. To monitor the engine’s temperature and maintain an optimal operating temperature, the PCM uses voltage signals from both the radiator coolant temp sensor and the engine coolant sensor. If voltage signals between the two sensors are inconsistant or out of vehicle predetermined parameters, the fault code P00B7 is triggered.

If the PCM detects that the temperature differences between these two sensors are excessive (more than 68°F), it may conclude that the coolant is too low and run the radiator fan(s) more than they should to keep the engine from overheating.

This code can often be found on vehicles equipped with electronic thermostats. Paraffin, an inert wax made from petroleum and colorless, expands when heated. The candle’s temperature is controlled by a heater coil around the candle capsule. The PCM monitors the voltage signal to each heater coil and regulates the thermostat’s refrigerant flow. The thermostat will still operate if the heating coil is damaged, but the PCM does not have much control over coolant.

Vehicles susceptible to the P00B7 fault code are various models of Chevrolet (especially Cruze), Audi and Volkswagen, as well as Ford.

What causes the P00B7 fault code?

Here are some reasons why P00B7 should be set.

  • Low coolant levels
  • – Defective thermostat
  • – Defective circulation pump
  • – Defective ECT sensor
  • – Temperature sensor for radiator coolant that is defective
  • Problems with cable and connectors causing short or open circuit
  • – Defective radiator cap
  • – Defective PCM / ECM / ECU

What are the symptoms of the P00B7 fault code?

You may experience the following symptoms if your vehicle has a P00B7 number:

  • – Illumination for the check engine light
  • – Engine overheating
  • – Abnormal temperature gauge values
  • – Engine performance issues
  • – Idle engine at low speed
  • – Engine running in rich conditions
  • – An increase in fuel consumption
  • – Radiator cooling fans are designed to operate continuously

How to Fix the P00B7 Fault Code

  • – Coolant level should be maintained at a safe level
  • – Replacing a defective engine coolant temperature sensor
  • – Replacing a damaged radiator coolant temperature sensor
  • – Replacing damaged or defective thermostats
  • – Repair and replacement of damaged connectors and cables to sensors
  • – Reprogramming or replacing the PCM

How serious is the P00B7 Fault code?

ECT sensor voltage signals are crucial for fuel delivery, ignition timing. When the P00B7 fault code has been set, it should not be taken lightly and should be addressed as soon as possible.
