What is the P0102 fault number? What is the description of the Mass Air Flow Circuit Low Voltage Iput malfunction? How can you fix P0102 fault codes? What are the causes and symptoms of P0102 fault code
What is the P0102 fault code? What does it all mean?
The general powertrain code P0102 is an OBD-II code. It applies to OBD-II-equipped vehicles equipped with a Mass Air Flow sensor. Brands include Toyota, Infiniti, Nissan, Jaguar, Audi, Mercedes, Dodge, Hyundai, Chevy, Ford, etc. Available, but not limited: Specific steps for repair may differ depending on the make/model.
The MAF sensor can be found downstream of the air cleaner in the engine’s intake. It calculates the volume, density, and temperature of the air entering the engine.
The MAF generates an input signal that the PCM can use to determine fuel control. P0102 code is used when the PCM detects that the signal is below specification for a specified period.
Note: Some MAF sensors include an air temperature sensor that is used by the PCM to optimize engine operation.
Other fault codes that are closely related to MAF circuits include P0100, P0101 and P0103.
What are the symptoms of P0102 Malfunction Code?
- – Illumination for the check engine light
- – Idle irregularity
- – Exhaust fumes emitting black smoke
- – Engine stalling or hard starting
- Low engine power
- – You may also experience other adverse driving conditions.
What is the P0102 Fault Code?
- – Restrictions in air flow (such a dirty or clogged Air Filter)
- – MAF sensor wiring or wiring problem (open, shorted, frayed, poor connection, etc.)
- – Intake air leaks
- – Dirty mass airflow sensor
- – Defective MAF sensor
Other codes could be present in addition to the P0102 fault. There may be O2 sensor fault codes or misfire codes. It is important to look at the bigger picture when repairing.
How do I fix the P0102 fault code?
- – Repair all vacuum leakages, hoses, and air intake connections
- – Check wires and connectors for corrosion, breakage and loose connections to the MAF sensor. Repair as necessary
- – Clean the filters and inlets of your air conditioner.
- – Before purchasing, clean the MAF sensor if it’s dirty.
- – Replace MAF sensor
How Serious Is the P0102 Fault Coding?
The P0102 code won’t prevent you from getting to where you need. It is possible to notice an increase in fuel consumption and difficulty starting your engine, depending on humidity.
