What is the P0104 fault number? What is the description for the Mass Air Flow Sensor Circuit Intermittent Failure (MAF)? How do you fix the P0104 fault code What are the causes and symptoms of the P0104 error code?

What is the P0104 Fault code? What does it signify?

You vehicle has many sensors to ensure it runs smoothly and delivers the best possible performance. The engine’s fuel injection system includes the mass air flow sensor (MAF), which is one of its key components. This sensor measures the airflow to the engine and provides information to the powertrain control module. The PCM uses these data to determine how much fuel the engine will need. It is crucial to have the best engine performance. The PCM will activate code P0104 when it senses that the voltage from the MAF sensors is out of the expected range.

The MAF sensor is typically mounted between the intake manifold and the air filter. It only measures a fraction the air entering the engine. Then, it uses that value to determine the total volume of the engine’s air.

The P0104 fault code is often similar to the P0100,P0101,P0102, and P0103 codes.

The P0104 fault code can affect vehicles of various makes, including Ford, Mercedes and Peugeot, Toyota, Honda Citroens, Nissan, VW Jeep, Chevrolet, and Dodge.

What causes the P0104 Fault code?

  • – MAF sensor defective or dirty
  • – Intake air leaks (loose hoses, clamps, cracks, etc.)
  • Problems with MAF Sensor Cable
  • – Needing software updates for PCM

What are the symptoms of P0104 Malfunction Code?

These symptoms may be present in vehicles with code P0104

  • – Illumination for the check engine light
  • Engine stalling
  • – Hard start
  • – Irregular engine operation, such as kickback, high idle speed, etc.
  • – The exhaust emits black smoke
  • – No power during acceleration

You may also experience other issues with your driveability. Your vehicle may not be showing any signs of failure in some cases.

How to Fix the P0104 Fault Code

  • Road tested to check if the codes are still valid.
  • Check to make sure the MAF sensor connector electrical connector is not plugged in. Unplug it and plug it in again if it is.
  • Connector connections that are loose should be tightened. If there is corrosion it should be replaced.
  • – Damaged, frayed or melted cables to the MAF sensor must be checked.
  • Vacuum leakage should be corrected by repairing vacuum leakage-causing hoses and clamps.
  • – The MAF sensors are free from dirt, oil, dust, etc. It should be cleaned if it has been contaminated by objects.
  • – If the problem persists, replace the MAF Sensor.

How Serious Is the P0104 Fault Coding?

The P0104 fault code won’t prevent you from driving your vehicle unless there is a very serious leak. If the problem is not addressed, it can lead to excessive fuel consumption, difficulty and erratic vehicle operation, and even damage of engine components. Sometimes the code will not return and reset itself. It is possible for the vehicle to run normally without flashing its check engine light. If the problem is not detected and fixed immediately, it must be repaired.
