What is the P0139 fault number? What is the Oxygen sensor circuit slow response (Bank 1, Sensor 2) malfunction description. How can you fix P0139 fault code What are the causes of P0139 fault code symptoms?

What is P0139 Fault Coding? What does it signify?

The oxygen sensors monitor the oxygen levels in your exhaust system and switch between high- and low-voltage signals. The signal from the front sensor (before sensors 1 and 2 / catalytic conversion) changes more quickly than the signal from rear sensor (2 and 3 / catalytic transformer), but both are subject to change over time. The engine computer logs fault code 0139 if the rear oxygen sensor mounted on engine row with cylinder 1 reacts slowly (7 seconds or more).

What causes the P0139 Fault code?

  • – Defective bank 1 sensor 2 oxygen sensor
  • – Rear oxygen sensor wiring and connections problems
  • – Leakage in the exhaust system
  • – Rich or poor working conditions
  • – Leaking and defective injector
  • Catalytic converter damaged
  • – PCM issues, such as software that requires updating

What are the symptoms for the P0139 fault code?

  • – Illumination at the check engine lights
  • – An increase in emissions values
  • – Engine hesitation during acceleration
  • – Excessive fuel consumption
  • – Engine stalling

The code is generally not harmful to engine performance or vehicle operation. Other than the engine fault lamp, symptoms are not likely to occur.

How to Fix the P0139 Fault Code

Clean up the codes to see if the code comes back. If the code returns, it is most likely the rear oxygen sensor. There are other options.

  • – Test the fuel system and have any faulty injectors replaced or cleaned.
  • – Repaired oxygen sensor wiring damage and loose connections
  • – Clean or replace the defective O2 sensor
  • – Repair of exhaust leaks
  • – Replacing front sensor’s catalytic convert
  • – Adjustment of the stuck throttle in an open position
  • – Fixing inlet air leaks
  • – Examining the MAF sensor

How Serious Is the P0139 Fault Code

The engine can over-pump and increase fuel consumption by using the P0139 code. An engine that has too much fuel can cause it to stall. The PCM can’t check fuel injectors if they are damaged or leaking fuel. This code should be taken seriously and fixed as soon as possible.
