What is the P0208 fault code number? What is the Cylinder 8 Injector Circuit Malfunction description? How do you fix the P0208 fault code What are the causes and symptoms of the P0208 error code?

What is the P0208 fault code? What does it all mean?

If the powertrain control module, PCM detects an out-of-range voltage/resistance in the cylinder 8 fuel injection circuit, a code P0208 will be set. This code indicates a fault in either the wiring or the injector. This code will cause the check engine lamp to illuminate and failsafe mode to activate. The tool will continue running in this mode until it is corrected. A P0208 code could cause an engine misfire or rich/lean mixture conditions.

The PCM continuously monitors the fuel injections for malfunctions. The voltage signal should not be below zero when the injector is activated. The voltage signal should be close to the battery voltage when the injector is switched off. If the PCM doesn’t receive the voltage signal it expects it to, it will set fault code P0208. The circuit resistance is also monitored by the PCM. If the resistance is too high or low, this code will still be set.

This code is identical to the P0200,P0201,P0202,P0204,P0205,P0204,P0205,P0206,P0207,P0207,P0208,P0205,P0206,P0207,P0207,P0207,P0206,P0207,P0207,P0206,P0207, and P0207 codes.

What causes the P0208 Fault code?

There are many reasons that the P0208 fault code may be activated. The following are possible causes:

  • – Fuel injector #8 is dirty, clogged or defective
  • Circuit problems in wiring and connectors to the fuel injection (e.g., damaged wiring, loose, corroded connectors, short circuits, etc.)
  • – A PCM that is not working or requires a software upgrade

Fuel injectors can get dirty and eventually fail after approximately 150,000 km. It is possible to clean the injectors and prevent problems.

What are the symptoms of the P0208 Fault Code?

You may experience the following symptoms if your vehicle has the code P0208.

  • – Illumination at the check engine lights
  • Engine misfires
  • Engine stalling
  • – Engine running erratically, or not at all
  • – Engine can run in either rich or lean conditions
  • – An increase in fuel consumption
  • – Sudden acceleration without power
  • – Fluctuations of idle speed
  • – Enables PCM failsafe mode

How do I fix the P0208 fault code?

There are several repairs that can resolve the P0208 fault code:

  • – In cylinder 8, check the resistance of fuel injector 8 and replace it if it’s defective.
  • – Repair of wires, connectors or open circuits to fuel injectors
  • – Replacing PCM

How serious is the P0208 Fault code?

P0208 is a serious condition that can cause an engine to misfire or stall, and then run erratically. Injector problems can cause many problems. It is important to address the code quickly and fix it in order to prevent engine failure and save money.
