What is P0235 fault code and what does it mean? What is the definition of Turbo Pressure Sensor a Circuit Malfunction (P0235 fault code)? How can I fix the P0235 fault? What are the symptoms and causes for the P0235 fault code

What is the P0235 Fault code? What does it all mean?

P0235 is a problem in the turbocharger pressure sensor A circuit. Pre-programmed into an engine control module (ECM/PCM/ECU), is the intake manifold pressure required when the vehicle is idle or at any RPM. The PCM monitors and manages turbo pressure using input data from the MAP sensor (Manifold Absolute Pressure) or the turbo pressure sensor. This value is compared to data from engine speed sensor, intake temperature (IAT), and throttle/pedal positioning sensors. If the PCM detects that turbo boost pressure has been set too high or too low, the P0235 fault code can be set.

P0235 fault codes can be found on vehicles made by Ford, Fiat and Alfa Romeo as well as Jaguar, Fiat, Alfa Romeo Land Rover, Jaguar, Audi and Suzuki.

What causes the P0235 Fault code?

Here are some reasons why P0235 should be set:

  • Turbo pressure sensor – Extremely dirty
  • – Defective turbo pressure sensor
  • – Turbo Pressure Sensor: Connectors and wires damaged or broken
  • Vacuum leaks from the intake manifold
  • – Filters that are extremely dirty or clogged
  • – Bad, stuck in an open or closed position or leaking wastegate
  • – There may be a blockage in the oil supply or return lines.
  • – Vibration in turbocharger bearings
  • – Turbine blades damaged
  • – Defective intercooler
  • Cracks in turbo body
  • – Turbo hoses that are cracked or bent
  • – Remove bolts from exhaust manifold

What are the symptoms for the P0235 fault code?

These symptoms may be present if you own a vehicle that has the P0235 code.

  • – Illumination at the check engine lights
  • – Engine control module can disable turbo
  • – Lower engine performance
  • – Acceleration loss of power
  • – Turbocharged engine makes strange sounds
  • – Engine overheating causes premature ignition and knock sensor fault codes
  • – Excessive smoke coming from the exhaust (especially when you are running high engine speeds).
  • – Sparkplugs can be contaminated

How do I fix the P0235 fault code?

The turbo pressure sensor should be checked first. The P0235 fault code will be triggered if the sensor becomes too dirty. The sensor will also respond slower if this happens.

The following repairs may be able to resolve the P0235 fault code:

  • – Replacing the deficient turbo pressure sensor
  • Repairing damaged wires and connectors to the turbo pressure sensor
  • Repair bent or clogged turbohoses
  • – Repair of the faulty wastegate device
  • Repairing vacuum leaks from the intake manifold

How serious is the P0235 Fault code?

The engine control module can disable the turbo if the turbo pressure sensor fails. This could lead to severe engine power loss.
