What is the P0237 fault code What is the description of Turbocharger/Supercharger Pressure Sensor A Circuit Low malfunction? How can I fix the P0237 fault? What are the causes and symptoms of the P0237 error code?
What is the P0237 Fault code? What does it signify?
A code P0237 is triggered when the powertrain controller module (PCM), receives voltage signals from the turbo pressure sensors A circuit that detects a short or falls below specifications.
The manifold absolutepressure (MAP) sensor monitors the pressure inside the intake manifold. The PCM sends the MAP sensor a reference signal of 5 volts. The MAP sensor then sends back a voltage signal that changes with the intake pressure. The voltage signal increases if the intake manifold pressure rises. The PCM uses a pressure control solenoid in order to regulate the turbocharger’s boost pressure. The turbo pressure sensor is used to verify that the turbo pressure is correct. Mistake code P0237 is issued if the PCM gets an abnormally low voltage signal.
P0237 fault codes can be found on vehicles made by: Dodge, Mercedes, Isuzu and Chrysler.
What is the P0237 Fault Code?
Here are some reasons why P0237 should be set.
- – Defective turbo pressure sensor
- – Connectors and/or wiring that are damaged, burned, shorted, or disconnected.
- – Leakage or damage to the intake inlet, causing loss in turbo pressure
- – Dirty or clogged air filter
- – Turbo control solenoid or defective wastegate
- – Large exhaust manifold leaks can cause the turbo pressure drop
- – A failure of one or several internal turbo components.
- – Defective PCM (rarely)
What are the symptoms of the P0237 Fault Code?
You may experience the following symptoms if your vehicle has a P0237 code:
- – Illumination and control of the check engine light
- – Engine control module can disable turbo
- – Other fault codes, such as sensor failures, can be set
- – Avoid excessive contamination of spark plugs, until the problem is solved
- – High engine speeds can cause whistling and hissing.
- Depending on the nature of your problem, you may experience moderate to high levels of power loss
- Serious issues with driving can arise, including poor acceleration, hesitation during acceleration and frequent stalling.
How do I fix the P0237 fault code?
There are several repairs that can resolve the P0237 fault code:
- – Replacing a defective turbo pressure sensor
- Repair of damaged cables and connectors.
- – Replacing an insufficiently functioning PCM
- – Change the filter
- – Repair leaks or restrictions in the intake outlet
- – Repair leaks in exhaust manifold
- – Repairing or replacing a damaged turbocharger
How Serious Is the P0237 Fault Coding?
The PCM will disable the turbo if there is a short in the sensor circuit. This problem must be resolved before the code can be cleared. To avoid damage to the catalytic convert and engine components from high turbo pressure, it is important to address this code as soon as possible.
Avoid driving a vehicle equipped with the P0237 set, especially in urban traffic. Serious drivability issues can arise if the vehicle stops suddenly. There are obvious safety risks to the occupants if the vehicle suddenly stops.
