What is the P0239 fault code What is the description of Turbocharger/Supercharger Pressure Sensor B Circuit Malfunction? How do I fix the P0239 fault code What are the causes and symptoms of the P0239 error code?

What is the P0239 fault code? What does it signify?

P0239 is the malfunction code for the turbocharger pressure sensor B circuit. It indicates the exact same problem as P0235. It only differs in that it refers to the “B”, not the “A”, circuit.

Pre-programmed into engine control module (ECM/PCM/ECU) is the required intake manifold pressure for vehicle idling and at all RPM. The PCM monitors and manages turbo pressure using input data from the MAP sensor (Manifold Absolute Pressure) or the turbo pressure sensor. This value is then compared to data from the intake air temperature (IAT), engine speed sensor and throttle/pedal position sensor. If the PCM receives an unusual signal from turbo pressure sensor, or detects that turbo pressure is too high or low, code P0239 will be activated.

Vehicles susceptible to the P0239 fault code include but aren’t limited to various models of GMC and Nissan, Infiniti.

What causes the P0239 Fault code?

Below are some reasons to set fault code P0239:

  • – Extremely dirty turbo pressure sensor “B”
  • – Defective “B” turbo pressure sensor
  • – Damaged wires and connectors to the turbo pressure sensor “B”, circuit
  • Vacuum leaks in intake manifold
  • – Extremely dirty, clogged filters
  • – A leaking wastegate or open position that is faulty, or stuck in an unsuitable position.
  • – There may be a blockage in the oil supply or return lines.
  • – Vibrations in turbocharger bearings
  • – Turbine blades that have been damaged
  • – Defective intercooler
  • Cracks in turbo body
  • – Turbo hoses that are cracked or bent
  • – Remove bolts from exhaust manifold

What are the symptoms for the P0239 fault code?

These symptoms may be present if you own a vehicle that has the P0239 code.

  • – Illumination for the check engine light
  • – Engine control module can disable turbo
  • – Lower engine performance
  • – Acceleration loss of power
  • – Turbocharged engines produce strange sounds
  • – Engine overheating causes premature ignition and knock sensor fault codes
  • – Excessive exhaust smoke (especially at high engine speeds).
  • – Sparkplugs contaminated

How do I fix the P0239 fault code?

First check the turbo pressure sensors. If the turbo pressure sensor is dirty enough to trigger the fault code P0239, the sensor will not respond. This can also cause the sensor to respond slowly.

There are several repairs that can resolve the P0239 fault code.

  • – Replacing the deficient “B” turbo pressure sensors
  • – Repairing damaged wires and connectors to the turbo pressure sensor “B”, circuit
  • Repair bent or clogged turbohoses
  • – Replacing a defective wastegate valve
  • – Fixing vacuum leaks in the intake manifold

How serious is the P0239 Fault code?

A bad turbo pressure sensor can cause severe engine power loss and disable the engine control module.
