What is the P0293 fault codes? What is the Cylinder 11 Additive/Balance(Balance) Fault Failure? How can you fix P0293 fault codes? What are the causes and symptoms of the P0293 error code?
What is the P0293 fault code? What does it all mean?
If the powertrain control module PCM detects that the cylinder 11, fuel injector, is not performing as expected and is destabilizing the engine, a code P0293 will be set. It is activated when the crankshaft sensor detects that cylinder 11 isn’t contributing to engine power or the crankshaft isn’t accelerating as it should.
This code basically indicates that cylinder 11 has a fuel problem during ignition. The PCM monitors the increase in crankshaft speeds when the cylinders have been fired. The PCM will trigger fault code P0293 if it finds that cylinder 11 is producing less than other cylinders.
This test is performed by the PCM to verify that the fuel injectors are working correctly. A similar test could be done by an auto mechanic. When the engine is running, the mechanic will unplug one spark plug and note the difference in the cylinder. A difference of 10% between all cylinders is considered to be a compression leak. Repairs are required for a cylinder that has a decrease in RPM of over 10%. Both tests measure crankshaft speed. To prevent any damage, this fault must be corrected immediately.
What is the P0293 Fault Code?
To ensure that a vehicle’s engine works properly, it must be able to fire its cylinders in the right sequence. This is how your engine generates the power it needs to ignite your fuel, and get your car going. An engine can have many problems.
Below are some reasons to set fault code P0293:
- Cylinder 11 injector doesn’t inject enough fuel.
- – Wiring and connector problems to the cylinder 11 fuel injector may cause damage, short circuits or open faults.
- Leaky fuel injector
- Low fuel pressure or low fuel quantity caused by a clogged fuel filter, or faulty fuel pumps
- Compression problems in cylinder 11, due to rocker/lifter, cam, circlelip or cylinder gasket failures
What are the symptoms of the P0293 Fault Code?
These symptoms may be present in vehicles with code P0293.
- – Illumination for check engine light
- – Fluctuations at idle speed
- – Engine stumbles or hesitation during acceleration
- – Increased fuel use
- Engine misfire on cylinder 11.
- – Sometimes the engine might stall.
- – The exhaust emits black smoke
How to Fix the P0293 Fault Code
It is a common error to repair this fault code by replacing the injector without first checking for damage to its circuit. It is important to first delete the code and verify that it does not return. Before replacing the injector, it is important to test the fuel pressure and volume.
The following repairs may be able to resolve the P0293 fault code:
- – Repair or replacement wiring and connectors for the cylinder 11 fuel injector
- – Clean the fuel injector
- Repairing a damaged fuel injector
- Repair of leaky injector gaskets
- – Replace the fuel filter
- – Replacing a faulty fuel pump
- Repair of low compression problems in cylinder number 11
- Troubleshooting problems with your PCM
How serious is the P0293 Fault code?
This fault code should always be taken seriously as it can cause your engine to run poorly. This fault code can cause your vehicle to misfire, which could significantly decrease its performance. To avoid further damage to your vehicle, it is highly recommended that you have the vehicle diagnosed as soon as possible.
