What is P0320 fault code and what does it mean? What is the description of the Ignition/Distributor Engine Accelerator Speed Input Circuit Problem? How can I fix P0320 fault code What are the symptoms and causes for the P0320 error code?

What is the P0320 Fault code? What does it all mean?

The crankshaft location (CKP) sensor measures the crankshaft’s position as well as the speed of its rotation. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM), based on this information, can control ignition timing and fuel delivery. The PCM will save the P0320 fault code if the sensor signal is lost or malfunctions.

The PCM controls important engine systems, such as ignition and fuel supply. It must know the crankshaft’s rotational speed and position data in order to manage them. This information is provided by the crankshaft position sensor (CKP).

A second sensor, the camshaft positioning sensor (CMP), informs PCM about when to open and close the intake and exhaust valves.

The PCM waits for signals to both position sensors after the engine has started. The control module assigns code P0320 if the CKP sensor fails to report after the CMP sensors. The P0320 fault code can be triggered by circuit faults related the CMP sensor in some models and brands. The PCM will be unable to adjust ignition timing or fuel delivery. This will cause vehicle operation to stop.

What Are the Possible Causes of P0320 Fault Code

  • – Defective crankshaft position sensor
  • – Problems with either the crankshaft sensor position sensor or the camshaft sensor circuit (such corroded wires, loose connection)
  • – Defective camshaft position sensor
  • Damaged crankshaft, camshaft reluctor wheel
  • – Low battery voltage
  • – Defective engine speed sensor
  • – Defective PCM / ECM

What are the symptoms for P0320 fault code?

The PCM can’t determine engine speed if it doesn’t receive the correct information from CMP or CKP sensors. These warning signs can be triggered by a decrease in engine performance.

  • – Illumination at the check engine lights
  • – The engine won’t start, or the engine starts hard when you press the starter.
  • Engine misfire and irregular running
  • – Engine hesitation during acceleration
  • – Engine not starting after stalling

How do I fix the P0320 fault code?

  • – Testing and fixing battery voltage
  • – Replacing crankshaft position sensor
  • – Repairing a damaged, shorted or corroded crankshaft position sensor wire or connector
  • – Replacing your camshaft position sensor
  • Replacing worn, shorted or damaged camshaft position sensor wiring and connector
  • – Replacing engine speed sensor
  • – Replacing the engine speed sensor wiring.
  • If necessary, replace or reprogram your PCM (low probability).

How Serious Is the P0320 Fault Coding?

Fault code P0320 can be considered moderately serious. If the code appears on the engine check light but no other symptoms are noted, the driver is allowed to drive the vehicle safely. It can cause serious damage to engine components if the driver ignores the problem for too long.
