What is the P0355 fault number? What is the description of the Ignition Coil “E” Primary/Secondary Circuit failure? How do you fix the P0355 fault code What are the symptoms and causes for the P0355 fault code

What is the P0355 Fault code?

Modern cars use the coil to-coil ignition system (COP), which eliminates spark plug wires as well as distributor caps. The ignition coil is located just above the sparkplug in this system. Each cylinder is controlled by the powertrain control unit (PCM/ECM) which controls each coil separately. Each coil contains two wires. One wire comes from the battery to provide power. One wire is for power supply. The other connects to the PCM. This circuit is used by the PCM to activate or disable the coil.

The code P0355 will be generated if the PCM detects a short circuit or open coil in the 5 cylinder ignition coil. Depending on your vehicle, it will also shut down the fuel injector to cylinder.

What are the symptoms of the P0355 Fault code?

  • – Illumination for check engine light
  • – Intermittent or continuous engine misfires
  • – Idle fluctuations
  • – Reduced acceleration and vehicle stumbling
  • – The vehicle must be hard worked

What causes the P0355 Fault code?

  • – Defective cylinder 5 ignition coil
  • – Short or open circuit in the ignition coil circuit
  • – Damaged or loose connection in the cable/connector to the ignition coil
  • – Defective PCM

How to Fix the P0355 Fault Code

Test the coil wires in cylinder 5 if the engine is stalling intermittently. You can do this by wiggling the wires. If the problem persists, replace the cables.

  • – Repair of or replacement of the ignition coil, and/or the wiring harness.
  • – Replacing an ignition coil connector
  • – Replacing the faulty ignition coil
  • – Carbon deposits in the throttle body or air passageways of the engine are removed

What’s the significance of the P0355 fault code?

The ignition coils and circuits can cause significant engine problems and reduce engine performance. It can lead to engine damage, expensive repairs, and more delays.
