What is P0467 fault code? What is the Purge Flow Circuit Low Input malfunction description? How do you fix the P0467 fault code What are the symptoms and causes for the P0467 fault code

What is the P0467 fault code? What does it signify?

The code P0467 stands as “Purge-Flow Sensor Circuit Low Output” This indicates that a fault has been found in the drain flow sensor circuit. It is part of the EVAP controller system. The powertrain control unit (PCM) monitors the EVAP’s emission pressure and flow using voltage signals from several sensors. These signals are compared with manufacturer-programmed parameters by the PCM. If the PCM detects that voltage from drain flow sensor is below manufacturer’s parameters, the P0467 code will be set.

The evaporative emission controller system (EVAP), as you are aware, is responsible for preventing the release of unburned gasoline vapors into atmosphere and reducing vehicle emissions. Unburned fuel is captured by the system and stored inside the canister. Fuel vapors can be sent to the engine for reburning if the fuel demand is higher or the pressure in EVAP increases.

The fuel tank/fuel tank module is often home to the purge flow sensor (PFS). The sensor is responsible for converting the EVAP pressure into an electric signal and reporting it to the PCM. This voltage signal is used by the PCM to calculate the fuel that will be sent from the tank and to the engine based on the fuel absorbed from EVAP.

The PCM examines the voltage signal coming from the drain flow sensors when the engine is turned on or started. If the voltage signal drops below the manufacturer’s parameters (typically below 0.33V), it will set fault code P0467.

P0467 fault codes can be applied to vehicles made by Mercedes-Benz and Ford as well as Chevrolet, Duramax and Duramax.

What is the P0467 Fault Code?

These are the most common reasons that P0467 fault codes are triggered:

  • – Broken, melted, snapped and shorting wires.
  • – Ground or open in the power circuit of the PFS sensor
  • – Defective PFS sensor
  • – Low probability of a PCM being faulty or needing to be reprogrammed

What are the symptoms for P0467 Malfunction Codes?

You may experience the following symptoms if your vehicle has the code P0467:

  • – Illumination for the engine fault lamp
  • – EVAP is not working
  • If the relief valve is left open, the idle quality can deteriorate. The engine might run unevenly at certain throttle settings or stall unexpectedly.
  • – A slight rise in fuel consumption
  • If the vehicle is left in direct sunlight for long periods of time or if the vacuum hoses become dislodged, it may emit a strong fuel smell.
  • – Other fault codes for the EVAP system

How to Fix the P0467 Fault Code

When diagnosing code P0467, the most common error is to replace component parts without first checking for leaks or improper installation. Before system components can be replaced, it is important to perform a comprehensive diagnostic procedure.

The following repairs may be able to resolve the P0467 fault code:

  • – Replace or repair all damaged cables and connectors connected to the PFS sensor
  • Repairing an open or close to ground in the PFS power circuit
  • – Replacing the defective PFS sensor
  • – Reprogramming or replacement of a faulty PCM

How serious is the P0467 Fault code?

Code P0467 is not an issue in and of itself. This code is usually associated with the EVAP system. You should immediately fix any problems with the vehicle’s pressure system. The EVAP system aims to reduce vehicle emissions. An EVAP system that is not working properly can make your car less eco-friendly and may cause your emissions test to fail.
