What is the P0560 fault number? What is System Voltage Fault? How to fix P0560 fault codes? What are the symptoms and causes for the P0560 error code?

What is the P0560 Fault code? What does it all mean?

The P0560 code is triggered when there are abnormal voltages in the battery, charging system, or starting system. If the vehicle’s system voltage exceeds what the powertrain control modules (PCMs) anticipates, a P0560 code is generated.

Once the ignition switch has been turned to the “ON” The position controls the charging, cranking and battery system. When the engine is running, the voltage should range between 13.5 to 15 volts. The vehicle’s running condition, whether it is running or idling, and the number/number of electrical components on the vehicle will all impact the voltage supply. The PCM will set fault code P0560 if it detects voltages lower or higher than the range.

The P0560 fault code can affect vehicles of all makes and models, including but not limited to Toyota, Lexus Land Rover, Peugeot.

What causes the P0560 Fault code?

Fault code P0560 is most commonly triggered by:

  • – A defective voltage regulator (charger)
  • – Wearned or loose alternator cables
  • – Replace worn or loose alternator drive belt
  • – Defective battery
  • – Installing an incompatible battery to the vehicle
  • – Batteries terminals that have become loose, corroded or worn.
  • – Batteries that are defective
  • – Defective starting system
  • Blowing fuses
  • – Incorrectly connected equipment or accessories (e.g. Electrical accessories, such as alarm systems, fog lamps, and audio systems, can be incorrectly connected.
  • – PCM failure (rare)

What are the symptoms for P0560 Fault Code?

You may experience the following symptoms if your vehicle has the code P0560:

  • – Illumination for the check engine light
  • – The fault light for the battery or charging system is on
  • Vehicle stalling at idle when voltage drops
  • – Problems with gearshifting on vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission
  • – Unsafely working electrical components
  • – Interior lights and headlights flickering or dimming
  • – The sound system is shut down or cut off
  • Engine is not running
  • – Low engine performance
  • – An increase in fuel consumption
  • – Continuous battery discharge

How to Fix the P0560 Fault Code

There are several repairs that can resolve the P0560 fault code.

  • Repair or Replace any bad, loose, or defective charging system circuitry
  • – Replacing the damaged alternator
  • – Repair or replacement the alternator belt
  • – Removing or replacing the battery and its cables
  • – Replacing/repairing a bad voltage regulator
  • – Locating and replacing damaged cables or connectors to an alternator.
  • – Repair or replacement for the starter motor.
  • – Repair of worn, loose or corroded terminals
  • – Troubleshooting and repairing malfunctioning systems that can cause battery drain
  • – Repair or replace a defective PCM

How serious is the P0560 Fault code?

While P0560 code is not considered serious, it can cause problems with other parts of the vehicle. These systems include:

  • – Security and locking system
  • Audio, telephone, and navigation systems
  • – In-car entertainment systems
  • – Electric chairs
  • – Air conditioning systems

You may notice an increase in fuel consumption, stalling, and problems with the gearshift. This code should be fixed as soon as possible.
