What is the P0602 fault code? What does it all mean?
A P0602 error code is an indication that the powertrain control module, (PCM), has detected an internal programming problem. The PCM is responsible for the programming error. This code is stored in the PCM when it detects the fault. However, the fault must be repeated over multiple driving cycles to cause the check engine light not to flash.
Today’s internal combustion engines are essentially the same as those used over 100 years ago. The addition of electronic control units and sensors has made significant improvements in power output, fuel economy, and emissions. The PCM instantly scans all sensor data, performs calculations, compares it to its memory, and makes various adjustments in order to improve engine performance.
Many control modules are included in modern cars to help reduce the load on the computer. Programming the PCM and performing the calculations is a complicated task. Automobile engineers don’t want to have to do this. Tampered or incorrectly programmed computers can result in increased fuel consumption, air-fuel mix deterioration and mechanical failures.

If the voltage required is not available, make sure the vehicle is turned off and the battery voltage is at 12.6 volts. The battery voltage should always be at 13.2 volts when the engine is turned on. If the voltage is not correct, you should inspect the battery terminals. You may have loose or mismatched cables. You should also check for excessive resistance. Make sure to inspect and test the fuses for excessive resistance. The PCM may not have been programmed correctly if it has recently been replaced.
