What is the P0615 fault number? What is the definition of Starter Relay Circuit Malfunction How do you fix the P0615 fault code What are the causes and symptoms of the P0615 error code?

What is the P0615 fault code? What does it all mean?

The starter relay circuit is responsible for P0615. In most cases, the vehicle will not start. If the powertrain controller module (PCM) detects an abnormal voltage signal coming from the starter circuit, also known by the ignition switch circuit, a P0615 code will be generated. The circuit also has P0616, P0617 fault codes.

The starter relay (also known as PNP relay and Park/Neutral relay) is designed to supply power to the starter in order to get the vehicle started. The vehicle’s features, configuration and other components may have different parts. This circuit begins at the batteries and includes various safety components, such as the ignition switch and fuses, starter solenoid or starter relay, starter relay and clutch position sensors.

The starter relay must be installed in the “Off” Position to stop the vehicle’s starting when it is in gear. The transmission must be in the “On” When the car is in neutral or parked, it will indicate its position. If the relay fails, the PCM will indicate this to the PCM and set the P0615 fault code.

Fiat, Infiniti (Jeep, Nissan, Land Rover), Peugeot, Chevrolet, Pontiac Duramax Acura, Acura, Audi and Saturn are some of the vehicles that can be affected by the P0615 fault code. These include but are not limited to.

What causes the P0615 Fault code?

Here are some reasons why P0615 should be set.

  • – A defective ignition switch
  • – Defective starter relay
  • – Damaged or broken wires to the starter relay
  • – Connectors that are damaged, rusty, or missing
  • – Blown starter relay fuse
  • – Battery cables that are corroded or defective
  • – A defective starter or solenoid. A faulty solenoid often presents the same symptoms and signs as a faulty relay.
  • – Low system voltage (one or more fault codes P0560 to P0561, 0562, 0562, and 0563 are set).
  • – A PCM is not working properly or has to be reprogrammed. Very unlikely.

What Are the Signs of P0615 Fault Coding?

These symptoms may be present in vehicles with code P0615

  • – Illumination at the check engine lights
  • – Even in neutral or in park, the gear might not start.
  • – The vehicle can be started while it is in gear
  • – No cranking no matter what gear position
  • – The starter can sometimes start, and other times it doesn’t.

How to Fix the P0615 Fault Code

There are several repairs that can resolve the P0615 fault code.

  • – Repair of short-circuited, damaged, melted, or broken wiring
  • – Replacing weak, rusty, or loose electrical connectors
  • – Replacing an exploded fuse
  • – Repairing or cleaning out corrosion on cables and terminals
  • – Replacing the defective starter relay
  • – Replacing a defective ignition switch
  • – Replacing a defective solenoid or starter
  • – Reprogramming or replacement of a faulty PCM

How Serious Is the P0615 Fault Coding?

The severity of P0615 code depends on the associated symptoms. Some cases will not cause any noticeable changes in your vehicle’s driving ability. However, if you ignore the code and delay, your vehicle might not start.
