What is P0707 fault code? What is Transmission Range Sensor a Circuit Low malfunction? How do you fix the P0707 fault code What are the causes and symptoms of P0707 fault code?

What is the P0707 Fault code? What does it mean

Diagnostic trouble code P0707 indicates that the transmission range sensor, also known as the transmission sensor or transmission sensor circuit A, has a low voltage input. The powertrain control module (PCM/ECM/ECU) will look for a voltage range on the transmission sensor. If the voltage input is low, the code P0707 will trigger.

The transmission position sensor informs the TCM (Transmission Controller Module) or PCM which gear has been selected. A functioning sensor includes a safety switch which allows the engine’s start when the gear is in “N/Neutral”. If the sensor/switch is not working properly, the PCM/TCM will not be able to manage the engine and transmission. If the PCM/TCM detects abnormal voltages within the circuits or transmission position sensor, it can place the vehicle in failsafe or safe mode to protect the transmission from damage. This code will not normally illuminate the check engine lamp, but it could cause the overdrive (O/D), or D4 lights to flash.

What causes the P0707 Fault code?

Here are some reasons why P0707 should be set.

  • – Defective transmission position sensor
  • – Open or close circuit in the wiring harness
  • – Incorrectly or defectively set Park/Neutral switch
  • Poor electrical connections
  • – Defective PCM / TCM

Note: An open circuit is when the electrical voltage from the sensor does not form a complete cycle. This could be like a lightbulb’s filament being broken. Short circuit occurs when the negative power cable contacts the positive power cables.

What are the symptoms of the P0707 Malfunction code?

These symptoms may be present in vehicles with code P0707.

  • – Make sure your engine light is on.
  • – Incorrect gear shifts
  • – Vehicle is not starting
  • – The ability to shift into gear and start the engine, which could cause an abrupt start
  • – Increased fuel use
  • – You can prevent the vehicle from changing gears by entering the safe mode (“Limp Mode”)

How do I fix the P0707 fault code?

  • – Change the transmission fluid
  • – Replacing the defective transmission position sensor
  • – Repair or replace an opening or short circuit in your wiring harness
  • Repair or replacement of damaged or defective Park/Neutral switch
  • – Repair and replacement of damaged wiring or loose connectors

How serious is the P0707 fault code?

The vehicle may not start if the P0707 fault code is entered. This happens because the ECU thinks the vehicle has been in the wrong gear. In certain cases, the vehicle might not shift correctly but start in some cases. To prevent further damage to other parts, this code must be resolved as soon as possible.
