What is the P0807 fault code What is the Clutch Position Sensor Circuit Low malfunction description? How do you fix the P0807 fault code What are the symptoms and causes for the P0807 fault code
What is the P0807 fault code? What does it mean
If the powertrain control module, PCM detects low voltage signals in the clutch position sensor circuit, a code P0807 will be set. This code only applies to vehicles with manual transmission. The code is invalid if it is used on an automatic transmission vehicle.
The clutch position sensor is a secondary safety device that prevents the engine from starting while the vehicle is in gear. It is usually a toggle switch, which closes when the clutch pedal has been depressed and opens when it’s released. Although they are often mounted on the clutch pedal brackets, their design can vary by make and model. The constant voltage is on one side of the switch. The contacts within the switch contact the starter motor and starter solenoid when the clutch pedal is pressed. This completes the circuit that allows for the engine to start. This circuit and switch disables the engine from starting if the clutch pedal is not depressed, even when the vehicle is in neutral.
The transmission control module, or TCM, can be used as a standalone module on some vehicles while it is integrated with ECU / engine control module on other vehicles. The PCM (powertrain control modules) is the combination of these two modules.
The PCM performs many calculations by receiving signals from vehicle speed sensors and transmission input speed sensors. If the PCM detects resistance or a voltage signal lower than expected in the clutch position sensor circuit, the code P0807 is triggered.
There are many vehicles that can be affected by the P0807 fault code, including models from Dodge, Ford and Smart, Land Rover, Land Rover, Chevrolet as well as Chrysler, Jeep, Mercedes, Mercedes, and Chrysler.
What is the P0807 Fault Code?
Below are some reasons to set fault code P0807.
- – Sensor for clutch position error
- – Incorrectly calibrated clutch pedal position sensor
- – Broken, damaged, melted, or broken wires, loose connectors and open circuits
- – Fusible link or blown fuse (if applicable).
What are the symptoms of P0807 Malfunction Code?
You may experience the following symptoms if your vehicle has the code P0807.
- – Illumination and control of the check engine light
- – The vehicle might not start at all
- – The clutch pedal can be depressed to start the car
How do I fix the P0807 fault code?
The following repairs may be able to resolve the P0807 fault codes:
- – Replacing a defective clutch pedal position sensor
- – Recalibration of the clutch pedal position sensor
- – Repair or replacement for worn or damaged electrical components
- – Replacing a fuse or fuse link that has blown (if applicable).
- – Replacing the PCM in vehicles with an automatic transmission
Note: This is the most common mistake in repairing this code.
How serious is the P0807 Fault code?
In some cases, symptoms may not appear or may seem minor after the code is set. The code should not be ignored as it could cause the tool to stop working altogether. Drivers could be in danger if the clutch pedal is not engaged when the vehicle starts. P0807 is a sign of a serious functionality problem that could lead to costly repairs in the future.
