What is the P0865 fault code? What does it signify?
A P0865 is a code that can be used to identify a person. “Transmission Control Module (TCM) Communication Circuit Low” . TCM must communicate with an engine control module (ECM/ECU), and set of sensors in order to allow transmission to shift correctly. The necessary parameters are pre-loaded into all modules to allow the vehicle to function properly. If the data stream from the ECM is not in accordance with the expectations, that is, there is a low-voltage condition in the circuit connecting the TCM to ECM, then malfunction code P0865 is triggered.
Modern vehicles include two dozen or so control modules that are interconnected by the CAN (Controller Area Network). The CAN bus system consists simply of thousands upon thousands of circuits, cables, and it’s job is to enable various sensors, switches, modules, and to exchange data.
