What is the P0875 fault number? What is the Transmission Oil Pressure Sensor/Switch “D” Circuit malfunction description? How can I fix P0875 fault code What are the causes and symptoms of the P0875 error code?

What is the P0875 Fault code? What does it all mean?

Fault code P0875 means that the circuit “D”, which controls the transmission oil pressure, is incorrect. Transmission control module (TCM), or powertrain control module, uses the transmission oil pressure sensor for hydraulic pressure determination during shifting. The oil pressure sensor is typically located near the hydraulic control unit (valve-body / transmission computer) within the transmission. It can, however, be mounted beside the transmission case in certain applications.

The transmission oil pressure sensor converts mechanical oil pressure into an electric signal. The voltage signal of the sensor will increase if the oil pressure is higher, and vice versa. This information is sent to the PCM/TCM in order to monitor the transmission operating temperature and perform the shifting process. The P0875 fault code will be triggered if the voltage signal from sensor is not in compliance with the manufacturer’s specifications. For more information on how to identify the “D” circuit within your vehicle, refer to specific repair manuals.

Problems with the electrical circuit of a sensor are usually responsible for P0875. Setting the code can result in transmission oil leaks or cracks in the transmission hydraulic computer. Also, it could cause low system operating pressure and transmission oil loss. It could also be caused by mechanical issues.

What is the P0875 Fault Code?

Here are some reasons why P0875 should be set.

  • – Damaged wiring or loose connectors.
  • – Sensor for oil pressure in transmissions that is defective
  • – Transmission oil missing, dirty or contaminated
  • – Defective transmission high press pump
  • – Defective temperature sensor
  • – Engine overheating
  • – Transmission oil leakage is caused by components and gaskets
  • – Mechanical transmission malfunctions
  • – Defective PCM / TCM (rarely)

What are the symptoms of the P0875 Fault code?

You may experience the following symptoms if your vehicle has the code P0875:

  • – Illumination at the check engine lights
  • – Transmission warning lamp now on
  • – Transmission oil that has been heated
  • – Oily odors emanating from the gearbox
  • – Smoke coming off the gearbox
  • Difficulty in changing gears
  • – Gearbox slipping
  • Transmission oil leaks
  • – PCM allows you to enter safe mode, lock the vehicle in 2nd and 3rd gears.

How to Fix the P0875 Fault Code

There are several repairs that can resolve the P0875 fault code.

  • Repair of damaged wiring and connectors.
  • – How to replace a damaged pressure sensor for transmission oil
  • – Change the transmission fluid and flush the transmission.
  • – Replacing a defective transmission high-pressure pump
  • – Replacing the defective temperature sensor
  • Repair of transmission oil leaks
  • – Repair of mechanical transmission problems
  • – Test and replacement of PCM and TCM

How serious is the P0875 Fault code?

While P0875 may not be symptomatic in all cases, it indicates that there is a serious problem and must be fixed immediately. This code will indicate a serious problem.
