What is the P2127 fault code and why? Throttle/Accelerator Position Sensor “E” Circuit Low Input what is the explanation for malfunction? How do I fix the P2127 fault code What are the symptoms and causes of the P2127 error code? …..

What is the P2127 Fault Code and what does it mean? What does it all mean?

When the powertrain control module, PCM detects an unusually low voltage signal coming from the throttle/pedal location sensor or switch, a code P2127 will be triggered. The description of the code includes the “E” symbol, which refers specifically to a circuit or sensor. You can refer to your vehicle’s specific repair manual to identify the “E”, circuit or sensor.

The electronic throttle control system, or ECTS, controls the opening of the throttle valve. Two position sensors are required to open the throttle on vehicles equipped with this equipment. A sensor is attached at the accelerator pedal. The internal resistance of this sensor changes depending on whether the pedal is released or pressed. The PCM receives the voltage signal and controls an electric motor. This motor opens or closes the throttle plate according to how much power is required.

If the PCM detects an error in the electronic throttle control system or detects low voltage signals from the accelerator pedal position sensor, a code P2127 will be set. Some vehicles have a lower limit of 0.17 to 0.20 volts. The P2127 fault code will be triggered if the signal value falls below 0.17 volts.

Note: Depending on the vehicle manufacturer, P2127 might have a different definition. Refer to the relevant repair manual or database for the vehicle to see a complete description of the code.

Some vehicles are prone to the P2127 fault code, including certain models of Mercedes-Benz, Chrysler, Chevrolet and Jeep, Kias, Hyundai, Citroen, Cadillac, Ford, Ford, and Nissan.

What causes the P2127 Fault code?

Here are some reasons why P2127 should be set.

  • – Defective throttle positioning sensor
  • – Defective accelerator pedal position sensor
  • – Sensor of misaligned accelerator pedal location
  • – Damaged wires or loose connectors, open, or short circuit issues
  • – Motor defective for electronic throttle control
  • – The PCM has become faulty or requires reprogramming

What are the symptoms of P2127 Fault code?

These symptoms may be present in vehicles with code P2127.

  • – Illumination at the check engine lights
  • – Idle engine speed fluctuations
  • Engine stalling
  • – Reduced engine performance
  • – Stumbling / hesitating during acceleration
  • – When the accelerator pedal has been pressed, the vehicle may not respond.
  • – The PCM can be set to failsafe mode and limit engine horsepower

How to Fix the P2127 Fault Code

The following repairs may be able to resolve the P2127 fault code:

  • Repair or replacement of wiring harnesses, connectors, open and short circuit to throttle sensor or accelerator pedal sensor
  • – Replacing a defective throttle position sensor
  • – Replacing an faulty position sensor for the accelerator pedal
  • – Replacing a damaged throttle motor
  • – If the sensor for the accelerator pedal position has been replaced, realign it
  • – Reprogramming or replacing the PCM

How Serious Is the P2127 Fault Code

Fault code P2127 is not likely to prevent the vehicle being driven in most cases. Rarely, the vehicle might not respond to the accelerator pedal pressing. You should immediately stop driving the vehicle if there is a problem with the accelerator pedal.
