What is the P2146 fault number? What is the description of the Fuel Injector Assembly “A” Supply Voltage Circuit / Open fault code? How do I fix the P2146 fault code What are the symptoms and causes for the P2146 fault code …..

What is the P2146 Fault Code and what does it mean? What does it signify?

The fuel injectors regulate how much pressured fuel is delivered to the engine each cycle. Fuel injectors are found in every cylinder. For easy control and monitoring, the powertrain control unit (PCM) divides these injectors in two groups: “A” and “B”. Code P2146 will be set if the PCM detects more than one fuel injection in group A. Refer to the manual for your vehicle to locate “A” fuel injectors.

The PCM electronic controls the fuel injections and provides ground to the appropriate injectors during each intake stroke. This allows the injector to inject a specific amount of fuel into each cylinder. The fuel is then mixed with the air in order to create power for the engine. The proportion of fuel injected increases with increasing engine speed.

Today’s cars have fuel injectors as an integral part of their fuel delivery systems. Modern fuel injectors can be described as electronic components. It is essential that they function properly by having a steady and reliable supply voltage. Some vehicles send voltages to injectors in specific orders or groups. The PCM inspects the fuel circuits and fuel injectors on a regular basis. If the PCM detects a problem with the fuel injectors (no voltage) or an abnormal voltage value, the fault code P2146 will be activated.

Some vehicles are prone to the P2146 fault code, including but not limited to: Dodge, Kia and Toyota, Ford, Audi. It is not.

What causes the P2146 Fault code?

Below are some reasons to set fault code P2146:

  • – Broken wires or connectors at the fuel injectors power source
  • – Defective fuel injector (group A)
  • – The PCM has become faulty or requires a reprogramming

What are the symptoms of P2146 Fault code?

You may experience the following symptoms if your vehicle has the code P2146,

  • – Illumination for the check engine light
  • – The engine is difficult to start
  • – Engine Stalling and Stalling
  • – Fluctuations of idle speed
  • – Insufficient power for acceleration
  • – Reduced traction on steep slopes
  • – A decreased throttle response
  • – Increased fuel use
  • Excessive smoke from exhaust
  • – Loud operation of the engine
  • – The vehicle will be running “poor”, misfire and can be adjusted by the O2 sensor or other fault codes

How do I fix the P2146 fault code?

Some repairs that could resolve the P2146 fault code are:

  • Repair damaged or broken connectors and wires for fuel injectors
  • – Repairing fuel injectors that are not working properly
  • – Replacing injector harness
  • – Replacing/reprogramming the PCM

How Serious Is the P2146 Fault Code

This code is a sign that there is a problem in the circuit connecting the fuel injectors. Inoperative fuel injectors can cause engine problems such as misfires and rough running. Sometimes, the engine may be difficult to start and could stall. This is a serious problem that you should address immediately.
