What is the U0105 fault code What is the description of lost communication with fuel injector control module (FICM-) failure? How can I fix U0105 fault codes? What are the causes and symptoms of the U0105 ?….fault code?

What is U0105 Fault Coding? What does it mean

The circuit used most often by control modules and electronic components in the automotive industry to communicate with one another is the “Controller Area Network (CAN)” bus. The manufacturer has preprogrammed the data that should be sent to each module. Operation information and commands are also exchanged via theCAN bus.

Two special copper wires called “CAN High” (High) “CAN Low” They are used for communication. They come in different colors. The wires are arranged in different colors. When there is no data transmission, both wires have 2.5V. Data transmission causes the high priority wire to rise to 3.75V while the low priority line drops down to 1.25V. This creates a 2.5V voltage difference between the lines. The voltage difference between bus lines determines communication.

The fuel injector controller module (FICM), is widely used in direct-injection gasoline engines and diesel vehicles. Based on the information from the powertrain controller module (PCM), the FICM controls the injectors. If there is a communication disruption, injectors won’t work and fuel injection won’t take place. Trouble code U0105 is issued to the PCM and other control modules that fail to receive the signal from the fuel injection control module.

Some vehicles are susceptible to the U0105 fault code, including, but not limited, to various Toyota, Lexus and GMC models Ford, Toyota, Lexus Opel, Nissan Opel, Dodge, Volkswagen and Chevrolet models.

What causes the U0105 Fault code?

Here are some reasons to assign U0105 as a fault code:

  • – Broken, damaged, melted or corroded wires that cause an open circuit or short circuit in CAN bus
  • – Weak connections or open or short circuit problems with the wiring to the fuel injection control module.
  • – Broken or bent pins in fuel injector control module sockets
  • – Blown fuse
  • – Defective fuel injector control module (rarely)

What are the symptoms of the U0105 Fault code?

These symptoms may be present in vehicles with code U0105:

  • – Illumination for check engine light
  • – Engine starts but does not start
  • – The engine may not start if it hesitates, stumbles, misfires, lack of power, or poor acceleration.
  • Unexpected situations may cause engine to stall
  • – Other fault codes can be set

How do I fix the U0105 fault code?

The following repairs can help resolve the U0105 fault code

  • – Repair or replacement for damaged, melted and corroded wires that are causing an open or brief circuit on the CAN bus
  • Repair or replace the damaged, melted or corroded wires that connect to the fuel injection control module.
  • – Replacing blown fuse
  • – Clean the fuel injector control module connectors that are corroded
  • Repair of bent or broken socket pins
  • – Replacing the fuel injector control unit that is faulty

How Serious Is the U0105 Fault Coding?

Failures in control modules must always be considered serious. This code will cause the engine to not start but it will crank if it is set. Even though the engine is running, you will notice performance problems like misfire, stumbling and weak acceleration. The vehicle could stop abruptly and cause an accident. It is important to not ignore this code. Have it fixed as soon and as quickly as possible.
