Also known as “Lambda Sensor” . Two oxygen sensors are common in modern vehicles. The first sensor is located between the catalyst and the exhaust manifold, while the second is located after the catalyst. Modern vehicles can have up to four of them.

The oxygen sensor’s job is to determine the amount of oxygen in exhaust gas and provide vehicle air flow control. It calculates the air fuel mixture ratio and transmits the vehicle’s lean or rich status to its computer. The ECU sends signals to the ECU to reduce fuel delivery to the injectors for a vehicle with a rich mixture. Signals to the ECU increase fuel injection rates for vehicles with a lean mixture. The vehicle can achieve the ideal mixture ratio which results in high performance and maximum fuel economy.

Performance of a vehicle is dependent on its air-fuel mix. Performance is closely linked to the oxygen sensor. The oxygen sensor malfunction lamp is an indicator light that turns on when the sensor detects abnormal conditions or malfunctions. It does not necessarily indicate that the oxygen sensor malfunction is occurring. The sensor alerts you when there is an abnormal condition in the vehicle’s mixture of air and fuel. The sensor will alert you if the vehicle’s mixture is too rich or too lean. This will cause your malfunction lamp to go on. The light may go out if the fuel pump is not changed or the LPG vehicle calibrated. If you ignore the warning, and use your vehicle in this manner for a long period of time, it could cause other problems. This will increase the cost.

This part, which is resistant to corrosion when the vehicle uses the correct fuel, can fail in vehicles that have been converted to LPG.

The oxygen sensor can be a simple, but costly part. The electronic control unit will detect zero if the part is canceled and not replaced. Because the brain believes it is in a bad mixture, it will increase fuel delivery and the time injections remain open. This will cause other problems and increase fuel consumption.
