What is the P00AF fault codes? What is the Turbocharger / Supercharger Boost Control “A” Module Performance failure description? How can I fix P00AF fault codes? What are the causes and symptoms of the P00AF fault codes?

What is P00AF Fault Coding? What does it signify?

If the powertrain controller module (PCM) detects an issue with the boost control modules of the turbocharger/supercharger systems, the fault code P00AF can be set. The code introduction uses the “A” symbol to indicate a fault in a specific section of the circuit, rather than in a component. Some vehicles, such as the Volkswagen Polo, can trigger P00AF. P00AF is triggered on some vehicles (e.g. Volkswagen) when the PCM detects an error in the boost control system. Problems can range from a damaged vacuum line to a malfunctioning turbocharger.

This code is typically used on vehicles with a variable geo turbocharger (VGT). VGT systems use an actuator to control and monitor turbocharger output and boost levels. The actuator communicates over the data network with the PCM. It is also known as the “boost controller module”. If the actuator detects an error internally, it informs the PCM. The PCM lights the check engine light and stores P00AF fault codes in its memory.

P00AF is a fault code that affects vehicles made by Volkswagen, Dodge and Chevrolet.

What causes the P00AF Fault code?

  • – Defective boost control module
  • – Wiring problems (short circuits or open circuits).
  • – Remove loose or corroded connectors
  • Vacuum hoses that are damaged
  • – Defective turbocharger
  • – Sensor for the turbocharger position sensor is defective
  • – Exhaust leaks
  • – Catalytic converter clogged
  • – Clogged or defective diesel particulate filter (DPF)
  • – Defective PCM

What are the symptoms for the P00AF fault code?

You may experience the following symptoms if your vehicle has a P00AF code:

  • – Illumination at the check engine lights
  • – Turning the vehicle on safe mode
  • – Poor engine performance or irregularity (intermittent issues may occur).
  • – Inadequate turbo boost
  • – Excessive oil intake
  • – A decreased throttle response
  • – An increase in fuel consumption
  • White smoke could be produced by the exhaust
  • Some engine speeds may cause mechanical whistling or noises.

How to Fix the P00AF Fault Code

  • – Repair frayed or damaged cables that cause open or short circuits
  • – Correcting corrosion or loose connections
  • Repair vacuum leaks
  • – Replacing the deficient turbocharger position sensors
