What is a Steering Column and how does it work?

Modern cars use power assisted rack-and-pinion steering systems. The steering column is located on the top of your steering system and connects directly to the steering wheel. The intermediate shaft is connected to the steering wheel and universal joints. The steering column transmits torque to the steering column, which turns the wheels in the desired direction.
What are the symptoms of steering column failure?
A steering column problem can present several warning signs to the driver. These are the warning signs you need to watch for:
Adjustable Steering Locking Problem
The adjustable steering wheel is a standard feature in most cars. It allows drivers to adjust the steering wheel’s angle and position. A small adjustment lever is usually located on the left side the steering column. This lever allows the steering wheel to be moved up or down, and can also be adjusted to the correct setting.
