What is the P0101 Fault code? What does it all mean?
The data from various vehicle components is used by the powertrain control module (PCM/ECM) to ensure that the engine receives the right amount of fuel. This information is collected by different sensors, which helps to ensure the best engine performance. MAF sensor is a key sensor in this process.
Mounted on the intake, is the Mass Air Flow (MAF Sensor). It is responsible for measuring the volume and density filtered air that has been drawn into the engine. To ensure an electrical connection that is clean and fresh, disconnect the MAF sensor and reconnect it. Check that there aren’t any high voltage sources within close proximity to the MAF sensor or its circuits.
- – Remove the MAF sensor and clean it with a spray made for this purpose. Significant carbon deposits form on MAF sensors. These carbon deposits can cause the sensor to stop working properly. It can cost a lot of money to buy a new MAF sensor and not clean it.
- Vacuum leaks should be checked at the inlet. If they are, they should be fixed. Vacuum leaks could cause the sensor’s reading to be higher than normal.
