What is the P0124 fault number? What is the description of Throttle Position Sensor/Switch “A” Circuit Intermittent failure? How can I fix the P0124 fault code What are the symptoms and causes for the P0124 fault code

What is the P0124 fault code? What does it signify?

Fault code P0124 occurs when the powertrain controller module (PCM), detects certain numbers of erratic and intermittent signals from the throttle positioning sensor (TPS circuit “A”) over a given period of time, under a set of pre-programmed conditions.

The throttle position sensor is located on top of the intake manifold’s throttle body. The accelerator pedal position sensors are usually located on the accelerator pedal assembly. Both sensors measure the force exerted on the accelerator pedal by the driver using their feet. They are used to calculate the engine’s required power.

The PCM adjusts the air-fuel mixture and ignition timing using the voltage signal from throttle position sensor. Data from the throttle sensor can also monitor intake air flow and exhaust oxygen content. It can also monitor engine load percentage and other components.

The P0124 fault code can affect vehicles of various manufacturers, including Toyota, Ford and Dodge.

What is the P0124 Fault Code?

  • – The throttle position sensor is incorrectly or deficiently adjusted
  • – Defective accelerator pedal position sensor
  • – Open or short circuit in the throttle position sensor (or accelerator pedal position sensor) “A” circuit
  • Damaged throttle body
  • – Blockage of the throttle by carbon deposits
  • – The PCM has become faulty or requires reprogramming

What are the symptoms for P0124’s Fault Code?

You may experience the following symptoms if your vehicle has a P0124 Code:

  • – Illumination at the check engine lights
  • – In certain cases, the engine might hesitate when it accelerates
  • – Sometimes the engine might not start at all or start hard in certain cases.
  • – Increased fuel consumption
  • – An increase in emissions values
  • – The exhaust is black, especially at startup
  • – The vehicle can be put into fail-safe mode
  • – You can idle higher or lower than normal
  • – Other emission codes can be set

Note: Fault symptoms can vary depending on how the manufacturer has programmed failsafe mode.

How do I fix the P0124 fault code?

  • Codes must be cleared first, and then road tested to verify if they return.
  • – Repair damaged or frayed cables that are causing short or open circuits
  • – Repair of corrosion or loose connections
  • – Replacing your throttle position sensor
  • – Replacing the accelerator pedal position sensor

How Serious Is the P0124 Fault Coding?

This code may cause the engine’s exit fail-safe mode to be entered. Incorrectly repairing the fault can cause acceleration issues, shaking, shaking, jerking, or other problems. Other systems, such as transmission, brakes, and others, may be affected by the TPS sensor’s failure. TPS sensor failure can also cause irregular operation.
