What is the P0252 fault number? What is the Injection Pump Fuel Metering A (A) Control Circuit Range/Performance? How can you fix P0252 fault codes? What are the causes and symptoms of the P0252 error code?
What is the P0252 fault code? What does it all mean?
P0252 fault code is set only in diesel vehicles. Common-rail diesel injection systems all use an electronic fuel control actuator to measure the fuel flow from the high pressure diesel fuel pumps. This component controls both the volume and pressure of fuel delivered to the fuel rail.
The fuel rail pressure must be controlled within a narrow range. This is why most applications use a variable resistance (FRP) fuel rail pressure sensor.
FRP sensors are used to measure fuel injectors. The FRP sensor converts the signal into an electric signal and sends it to the powertrain controller module (PCM). Using this signal, the PCM can adjust the amount of fuel that should be sent to an engine based on operating conditions. Fault code 0252 is activated if the sensor information doesn’t match the engine operating condition stored in the PCM memory.
The high pressure injection pump is usually mounted near the fuel metering control circuit for injection pump fuel. These components may be contained in the high pressure injection pumps for some applications. To locate the “A”, circuit, refer to your vehicle’s repair manual. The steps for troubleshooting may vary depending on the manufacturer, FRP sensor type, and wire color.
An F0252 fault code can be set by faults in the EVAP sensor circuit or mechanical faults. These components should be monitored closely.
P0252 fault codes can be found on vehicles made by Ford, Mercedes and Porsche as well as Opel, Fiat, Fiat and Vauxhall.
What causes the P0252 Fault code?
Below are some reasons to set fault code P0252:
- – Fuel filter clogged or dirty
- – Defective fuel pump
- – Defective fuel pump relay
- – Fuel pump and FRP sensor damage due to loose connections or damaged wires
- – Defective FRP sensor
- – Defective fuel control actuator
- – Defective PCM (rarely)
What are the symptoms for P0252 Malfunction Codes?
You may experience the following symptoms if your vehicle has the code P0252:
- – Illumination at the check engine lights
- – Engine running hard, or not at all
- – Operation in either rich or lean conditions. This can be done by degrading the mixture of air and fuel.
- – Increased fuel use
- – Exhaust pipe emits black smoke
- Engine stalling
- Engine misfires at idle
How to Fix the P0252 Fault Code
The following repairs may be able to resolve the P0252 fault codes:
- – Repairing a defective fuel injection pump
- – Replace the fuel pump relay if it is damaged.
- – Cleaning out the fuel filter.
- – Replacing the FRP sensor that is defective
