What is the fault code P0667? What is the PCM/ECM/TCM Intertemperature Sensor Range/Performance error? How can I fix the P0667 fault? What are the symptoms, causes, and solutions for the P0667 fault code?
What is the P0667 Fault code? What does it all mean?
The internal temperature sensor circuit has the code P0667. This circuit comprises the powertrain control (PCM), engine management module (ECM) and/or transmission controller module (TCM). Some vehicles do not include ECM or TCM. These modules are combined and called PCM.
The purpose of an internal temperature sensor is monitoring the temperature of the control module. The malfunction code P0667 will trigger the engine and transmission lamps if the PCM/ECM/TCM senses an out-of range voltage signal on the internal thermo sensor circuit. To avoid any damage, however, the control module will shut itself down in the event of an overtemperature.
The P0667 fault code can affect vehicles of all makes and models, including but not limited to Toyota, Ford, Chevrolet Chevrolet, Audi Dodge, Volkswagen, Audi, Dodge, and Volkswagen.
What is the P0667 Fault Code?
Below are some reasons to set fault code P0667:
- Corroded or damaged wires and/or connectors that cause a short in one the control modules.
- – The engine and transmission are overheated (this is both cause & effect).
- – Defective control module (PCM/ECM/TCM)
You can also set P0667 if the radiator or transmission coolant is malfunctioning causing excessive heat or clogged transmission lines. In such cases, the fault codes for P0667 will be also set.
What are the symptoms of P0667 Malfunction Code?
These symptoms may be present in vehicles with code P0667.
- – Illumination for check engine light
- – Transmission warning light turns on
- – Engine stalling
- – Engine is not running
- – Automatic transmission with faulty gear changes
- – Engine overheating
- – Gearbox overheating
How to Fix the P0667 Fault Code
Each control module is equipped with temperature sensors to aid in self-diagnosis, and protection in the event of failure. It is possible to locate the module in failure mode in some applications. First, test the power and ground connections of the module that is failing. Next, check the results against the manufacturer specifications and make any repairs. All codes should be cleared, and the system should then be retested. If both the ground and power circuits are in good condition, it is possible that the module is defective. It is necessary to replace the module and program it again.
There are several repairs that can resolve the P0667 fault code.
- – Making repairs and testing control module circuits
- Repair of melted, corroded and loose cables and connectors
- – Repair of or replacement power and ground wires
- – Repair of malfunctions that lead to engine or transmission overheating
- – Replacing defective control modules (PCM/ECM/TCM))
How Serious Is the P0667 Fault Code
P0667 is an indication of a serious problem with your engine or transmission. This could cause the engine’s to stop working and prevent it from starting again. This code is unsafe to use. Even though the engine is still running, there is always a chance of it getting damaged. This code should not be ignored and must be addressed immediately.
