What is the P2017 fault code What is the description for the Intake Manifold Control Position Sensor/Switch Circuit High (Bank 1) malfunction How do I fix the P2017 fault code What are the causes and symptoms of the P2017 ?….fault code?

What is the P2017 fault code? What does it signify?

An illuminated check engine light could indicate an issue with your vehicle’s emissions system. You may see the P2017 light when you use a diagnostic tool to determine the cause.

The intake manifold volume control sensor calculates how much air is entering the intake manifold. The flow control valve is controlled by the powertrain controller module (PCM). It controls a flap that opens or closes depending on the engine’s requirements. If the flow control circuit’s voltage signal is abnormally high, fault code P2017 is generated. The code description refers to the engine bank in which cylinder 1 is located.

As a second throttle plate, the intake manifold airflow control valve can be referred to as the air intake system’s second throttle plate. It optimizes the engine’s fuel-air ratio (AFR). It can open or close as necessary to let air flow faster or slower into the engine. The rate of airflow can be increased to improve fuel atomization. This allows for more engine power and lower fuel consumption.

When a stationary vehicle is slowing down, the flow control valve will open the flaps slightly to allow more air to enter the engine. This will enable the vehicle to accelerate faster. The engine will perform better as the revs increase. As the wings open, more air will be absorbed by the engine.

What is the cause of P2017 Fault code?

Below are some reasons to assign fault code P2017:

  • – Cracked, defective intake manifold contaminated by excessive carbon
  • – Intake manifold flow controller valve contaminated by excess carbon or deficient
  • – Leaky intake gasket(s).
  • – Dirty Air Filter
  • – Defective IMRC actuator relay
  • – The solenoid of the defective intake manifold is deficient
  • – Corroded, damaged, burned, disconnected, or disconnected wiring and/or connectors
  • – Vacuum lines can be split, cracked, or broken
  • – PCM related issues (rarely).

What are the symptoms of the P2017 Fault Code?

You may experience the following symptoms if your vehicle has the code P2017:

  • – Illumination at the check engine lights
  • – Lower engine performance
  • – Increased fuel consumption
  • – Misfire-like symptoms
  • – Idle fluctuations

How do I fix the P2017 fault code?

When diagnosing this code the PCM will be assumed to have a problem. The PCM is most likely to be defective in this situation. Before concluding that the PCM has a defect, it is important to investigate all possible causes.

The following repairs can be done to correct the P2017 fault code

  • – Replacing the solenoid of an ineffective intake manifold control valve
  • Thorough cleaning and inspection of the intake manifold
  • – Cleaning the sensor for mass air flow (MAF).
  • Repair of damaged wiring or connectors to the intake control circuit.
  • Repairing the intake manifold flow circuit for short or open circuits
  • – Removing polluted filters from the air.
  • Repair of vacuum leaks and intake manifold leaks
  • Replacing an IMRC actuator relay that is defective
  • – Replacing the faulty PCM
