What is the P2074 error code? What is the Manifold Absolute Pressure / Mass Air Flow-High Load Throttle Point Correlation fault description How do I fix the P2074 fault code What are the symptoms and causes for the P2074 fault code
What is the P2074 fault code? What does it all mean?
The powertrain control unit (PCM), controls the airflow through the engine. A P2074 malfunction code will be issued if the PCM detects an illogical relation between the Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor (MAP) or Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF), and the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS).
The PCM uses information from either the MAP sensor or the MAF sensor to determine the amount of fuel that the engine requires. In most cases, these sensors can be paired together. To monitor the throttle angle, the PCM uses the throttle location sensor. The PCM compares both the MAP/MAF signal signal and the throttle position sensor signal. The PCM will trigger the P2074 fault code if it finds an unlogical relationship between the two sensors.
Note: Depending on the vehicle manufacturer, P2074’s definition of fault code may vary. Refer to the repair manual or database for complete code descriptions.
The P2074 fault code can affect vehicles of all makes and models, including but not limited to Chrysler, Ford, Citroen Mercedes, Dodge, Audi or Peugeot.
What is the P2074 Fault Code?
These are the most common reasons that P2074 fault codes are activated:
- – Air charge cooler leakage or restriction
- – Crankcase ventilation system leaks or restriction
- – Defective or damaged MAF/MAP sensor
- – Defective throttle positioning sensor
- – Inlet temperature sensor defective
- – Defective turbocharger
- – Vacuum leaks
- – Internal engine issues
- – Broken wires, loose connectors and open or short circuit problems
- – Need to update or fix a PCM
What are the symptoms for the P2074 fault code?
These symptoms may be present in vehicles with code P2074.
- – Illumination at the check engine lights
- – Engine hesitation during acceleration
- – Engine starts hard
- – Stalling and misfires
- Poor throttle response
- Problems with engine speed
- – Increased fuel consumption
How to Fix the P2074 Fault Code
Some repairs that could resolve the P2074 fault code are:
- – Replacing MAF/MAP sensor
- – Replacing your throttle position sensor
- – Replacement of restricted intake air cooler, or pipe
- – Change the air filter
- – Replacing crankcase filter
- Repair of air leaks
- – Repair damaged wiring, loose connectors and open or short circuit issues
- – Reprogramming and replacing the PCM
