What is P2112 fault code and what does it mean? What is the Throttle Actuator Controller System Stuck Closed malfunction description? How do you fix the P2112 fault code What are the symptoms and causes for the P2112 fault code

What is the P2112 Fault Code and what does it mean? What does it all mean?

A P2112 code means “Throttle Actuator Control System Stuck Closed”. If the powertrain controller module (PCM) detects the throttle plate being stuck/stuck in closed position, the code P2112 will trigger.

The throttle control motor controls how the throttle plate moves depending on the force with which the driver presses the accelerator pedal. This determines whether or not more air is allowed to flow in that direction. The PCM uses voltage signals from the throttle position sensor as a signal to determine driver demand. It then changes the current to throttle motor to adjust the angle of throttle plate. It monitors and controls the position of the throttle plates using the throttle position sensor. The PCM will set the P2112 malfunction code if the throttle plate is not opening or falls within the desired range, even though the accelerator pedal is depressed. The PCM can place the vehicle in failsafe mode or the engine might not start at all.

Six codes can be associated with Throttle Actuator Control System failures. These codes are P2107; P2108, P2111, or P2112, and are P2118 and 2119.

The P2112 fault code can affect vehicles of all makes and models, including but not limited to Ford, Audi, Volkswagen Volvo, Toyota, Hyundai or Mercedes.

What is the P2112 Fault Code and Why Does It Happen?

Below are some reasons to set fault code P2112:

  • – Defective throttle body
  • – Throttle plate stuck in closed position because it is dirty
  • – Defective throttle positioning sensor
  • – Broken cables, rusty connectors or loose connections
  • – Open/short in the throttle actuator wiring Harness
  • – Defective throttle actuator motor control motor
  • – Defective accelerator pedal position sensor
  • – A PCM that is not working or requires a software upgrade

What are the symptoms of the P2112 Trouble Code

These symptoms may be present if you own a vehicle that has the code “P2112”.

  • – Illumination for check engine light
  • – The vehicle can be put into failsafe or safe mode
  • – No throttle response or little throttle response
  • – The engine might not start even though it cranks.
  • After starting, the engine could stop.
  • – It is possible to reduce the engine power.
  • Driving can cause misfires or stalling.
  • – Excessive fuel usage can be seen
  • Excessive smoke could be caused by the exhaust

How to Fix the P2112 Fault Code

The following repairs may be able to resolve the P2112 fault code:

  • – Replacing your throttle position sensor
  • – Clean the throttle plate, coupling
  • – Replacing throttle actuator control motor
  • – Replacing your throttle body
  • – Replacing the accelerator pedal position sensor
  • – Cleaning corrosion on connectors
  • Repair or replacement cables
  • – Reprogramming and replacing the PCM

Excessive carbon deposits can cause the throttle plate to become stuck over time. This happens about 150 000 km. It can also occur in vehicles that are used frequently. Carbon deposits can cause the throttle not to open or close correctly or get stuck in either the open or closed position. The solution is to clean the throttle.

How serious is the P2112 Fault Code Code?

You may experience different symptoms and severity levels of code P2112. If the throttle plate becomes stuck in closed position, the vehicle will not start or stall. The problem with the wiring or the throttle position sensor may cause the car to not start. However, it may run poorly and misfire.
