What is the brake pads wear warning light? What causes the brake pad warning lamp to come on? What does the lamp indicating a pad wear fault mean?

Brake pad warning lights are a relatively new technology being used in modern cars. This warning light is usually used in high-end cars to notify the driver that brake pads are nearing their expiration and need to replaced. This light will turn on to give you enough time to change the pads before the worn ones completely wear out and damage the discs. You will be able to see how far you can go with the remaining pads once the light turns on. To find out where you are, consult the owner’s guide.

How does the system work?

It is very easy to use the system. When the brake pads become too thin, the light will turn on. There are two ways for automakers to diagnose this condition. The first method is to incorporate small sensors into the brake pad material. As the pad wears, the sensor will form a circuit and contact the disc. This light will turn on. The second is a position sensor, which measures how much the pads rub against the disc as the brake pedal is depressed.

The instrument cluster lamp will turn on when you take your vehicle to a workshop. When new pads are installed, the light will automatically turn off. This light can still be activated if the sensors malfunction.

This light will turn on when you are able to safely drive for a brief time. As stated above, the light will blink when your pads are almost empty. If you continue driving and leave the pads out, you can cause damage to the discs and cause them to run out. The pads will not allow you to stop the vehicle. Waiting too long can lead to serious injuries and increase the risk of collision.
